Biography

Ren Hongbin, male, Tujia nationality, is a native of Chongqing. He was born in July 1966. He started his career in August 1988 and joined the CPC in November 1985. He obtained a B.A. degree from Beijing Foreign Studies University and a master's degree from China University of Mining and Technology.

He worked successively as Deputy Director and Director of the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and the Ministry of Commerce. During that period, he served as Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Suifenhe Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of the city of Suifenhe, Heilongjiang province. He was promoted as Deputy Director-General of the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce in June 2006 and served as Commercial Counselor (deputy director-general level) in China's Embassy in Hungary in August 2006. He was appointed as Party Secretary and Vice President of China Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, MOFCOM (director-general level) in July 2011. He worked as Director-General of the Department of WTO Affairs and Director-General of China WTO Notification and Inquiry Center in January 2016. He was appointed as Director-General of the Department of Foreign Trade and Deputy Director-General of National Mechanic and Electronic Import and Export Office in May 2017. In May 2018, he was appointed member of the CPC Leadership Group of MOFCOM and Assistant Minister of Commerce. In July 2021, he was appointed as member of the CPC Leadership Group of MOFCOM and Vice Minister of Commerce.
