The 25th Meeting of China-South Korea Joint Economic and Trade Committee Held

On November 30th, Vice Commerce Minister Ren Hongbin and Choi Jongmoon, South Korea’s Vice Foreign Minister, co-hosted the 25th Meeting of China-South Korea Joint Economic and Trade Committee in a virtual format. The two sides exchanged views and reached broad consensus on issues such as promotion of China-South Korea economic and trade relations and multilateral cooperation.

Ren said that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Moon Jae-in, China-South Korea trade and economic cooperation has witnessed continuous progress. The 6th Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held recently reviewed the major achievements and historical experience of CPC over the past century. As China has embarked on a new journey of fully building a modern socialist country, its development will also bring all countries an enormous market and greater opportunities. 2022 will be 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and South Korea. The two countries must take this opportunity to implement the important consensus reached between the two presidents to better coordinate development strategies, expand trade and investment cooperation, deepen economic cooperation in local areas, extend cooperation to new fields such as digital economy and green development, and enhance communication and coordination for regional and multilateral economic cooperation, in a bid to elevate China-South Korea economic and trade relations to a new level.

Choi Jongmoon recognized that China and South Korea are important trading partners. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, the two governments have maintained close communication to stabilize and develop South Korea-China trade and economic cooperation. South Korea will work together with China to take the 30th anniversary as an opportunity to enhance trade and investment cooperation, promote regional and multilateral economic cooperation, and work towards a higher-level of bilateral economic and trade relations.
