The 30th APEC Ministerial Meeting Held in Papua New Guinea

On November 15, the 30th APEC Ministerial Meeting was held in Papua New Guinea and discussed issues including regional economic integration, economic and trade connectivity, multilateral trading system and inclusive growth. On behalf of Minister Zhong Shan, Assistant Minister Ren Hongbin attended the meeting.

Ren Hongbin said that the current multilateral trading system is facing challenges. APEC should continue to support the multilateral trading system, oppose unilateralism and protectionism, and provide basic rules and institutional safeguard for promoting the prosperity and development of the region. China supports having the necessary reforms to the WTO to enhance its authority and effectiveness.

Ren Hongbin emphasized that APEC should continue to keep the Asia-Pacific Free Trade Zone as its development goal, promote relevant work in areas where consensus were reached, bring together the positive factors to finally realize the Asia-Pacific Free Trade Zone and make it an important part of the APEC cooperation vision after 2020. It is necessary to continue to set up all-dimensional, multi-level and composite Asia-Pacific connectivity networks. China welcomes the new work outline of the Asia-Pacific demonstration electronic port network and the upcoming Global Value Chain and China Trade in Value Added Database. At the same time, it is necessary to promote cooperation between the Internet and the digital economy, let small and medium-sized enterprises better participate in the global value chain, and promote sustainable, innovative and inclusive growth in this region

Ren Hongbin pointed out that nearly 2,000 enterprises from all 21 members of the APEC participated in the first China International Import Expo, and the intended amount to sign accounted for nearly half of the total intended amount to sign of the expo. China welcomes the APEC economies to continue to actively participate in the China International Import Expo next year.
